Judith Vonhof

Judith holds a Masters degree in both Geology and GIS and has worked with GIS in both the public and private sectors for over 15 years. First introduced to GIS in 2000 while working for Pasminco Exploration in Australia, before doing a Masters in Edinburgh University. Since then she has worked for the Sociology Department in Edinburgh University and the ICT Department in Cork County Council on a wide variety of different GIS projects. These range from analysing the distribution of ethnic populations in relation to quality school access in India, to viewshed analysis for the setup of the Council’s WAN and securing significant funds for the Council under the Regional Broadband Scheme.

 

Currently Judith is the GIS Officer for Cork County Council with responsibility for the management and distribution of the LA’s GIS data throughout the organisation and project management for the development and roll out of GIS business solutions. She was integral to the establishment of the GIS service and implementation of Corporate GIS solutions, such as planning applications and property interest systems, so that GIS forms a central part of the business and decision making process. She was previously a member of the MUGUKI committee and vice chair of the Local Government GIS User group. She joined the IRLOGI’s Executive Committee in 2015.
